Accelerated Genetics Sponsors Iowa FFA Foundation (6/5/07)
Recently, Accelerated Genetics sponsored the Dairy Production Entrepreneurship Agricultural Proficiency awards in 2007 for the Iowa FFA members. 100% of all FFA members have proficiencies as part of the agricultural program and the FFA. These proficiencies range in the areas of Agricultural Communications to Aquaculture and from Dairy Production to Forage Production. Proficiency Award winners have excelled in their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs. These awards encourage members to develop specialized skills that will apply toward a future career.
This year, Megan Kregal, of the Tri-Star FFA Chapter (Iowa FFA), is the first place winner in the area of Dairy Science Entrepreneurship. Kregal has been involved in the dairy industry throughout her entire life. She started her Supervised Agricultural Experience with on Holstein cow, one Holstein heifer, and one Brown Swiss heifer. Kregals SAE goals include increasing milk quantity and quality through sound breeding practices and keeping a sanitized milking environment. Kregal has seen her herd increase to 19 Jersey cows, 15 Jersey heifers, and 3 Jersey bulls. Megan plans to attend Iowa State University to major in Dairy Science.
The second place winner in the area of Dairy Science Entrepreneurship is Hannah Gesing of the Little Switerland FFA at Waukon (Iowa). Her advisor is Mr. Nate Gebel.
