Baraboo WI: Larry Cade Accelerated Genetics’ Farm and Barn Manager retires after 38 years of dedicated service to the company. Cade joined Accelerated Genetics then Tri-State Breeders on October 28 1968 as one of five employees at the Production Facility located in Westby Wisconsin. Throughout his career with Accelerated Genetics Cade worked with all aspects of the bulls including: semen collection feeding exercising clipping and washing. Eventually he took on the role of Farm and Barn Manager where he not only managed the bulls but also close to 30 employees.
President and CEO of Accelerated Genetics Roger Ripley admires Cade for his leadership explaining that he led by example. “Cade would never expect someone else do a task he would not perform himself. He was a real hands-on manager whose leadership spanned a long time. He has been a real staple for the company” commented Ripley.
Throughout his career Cade observed many changes to the A.I. Industry and at Accelerated Genetics. These have included the change from ampules to semen straws and the improvement of sire housing and collection facilities through various construction projects. Additionally he has seen many bulls move in and out of Accelerated Genetics’ line-up including his favorite bull that he worked with 014HO000652 Bear. When asked why he chose Bear as his favorite Cade responded “He worked well.”
According to Roger Hanson Vice President of Farm and Barn Operations “Cade handled the changes and challenges well throughout his tenure. Also he was respected and admired by everyone he worked with.” Hanson explained “Even as bull and staff numbers increased Cade never stopped working.”
Cade will be forever remembered for his work with the Accelerated Genetics’ bulls. Accelerated Genetics extends congratulations and thanks to Larry Cade for his 38 years of dedication to the frontlines of the A.I. industry.
