Meyer Recieves Excellence in Education Award (6/26/06)

Three Excellence in Education Awards were presented at a recent Reedsburg School Board meeting one going to Accelerated Genetics Mark Meyer. The Excellence in Education Awards are given out to recognize individuals and businesses who have made outstanding contributions to the Reedsburg WI School District.
Mark Meyer and Accelerated Genetics were recognized because they donate liquid nitrogen to the high school chemistry program. The liquid nitrogen is used in chemistry demonstration RAHS students put on for district fourth graders to demonstrate cryogenics. Because it lowers the temperature to immersed objects to -196 degrees students can see how matter changes in extreme cold using materials such as flowers balloons marshmallows and hot dogs. The chemistry students also use the liquid nitrogen in chemistry classes to demonstrate superconductivity gas laws and cryogenic properties.
Meyers is an Accelerated Genetics Technician based out of Central Wisconsin.
